For so many in our area, Augusta has become synonymous with wine country. And that is for a good reason. Our rolling hills and vineyards are reminiscent of Bordeaux and Napa Valley.
It was, in fact, Augusta and not California that was first recognized as an AVA (American Viticultural Area) in 1980. Wine and grape-growing is part of the DNA and structure of our culture in Augusta. It is the lifeblood that holds together our community and is as central a feature to our town as the Missouri River.
Drop into any one of these area wineries and you are guaranteed a unique, rich experience.
Augusta Winery & Beer GardenAugusta Winery & Beer Garden
Established in 1988 by current owner and winemaker Tony Kooyumjian, Augusta Winery grows and bottles their award-winning wines right here in America’s First AVA. Their philosophy is to farm the vineyards with a respect for the land and the environment. As a result, their wines are fresh, fragrant, focused, and well balanced – but most of all, express the uniqueness of their vineyards. Their tasting room is open daily and year-round or enjoy the fruits of their labor in the Wine & Beer Garden, featuring a spectacular 10-foot grape arbor, craft beers, and free, live weekend entertainment May to October.
